Stepping onto the sandy shores of Zanzibar, I couldn’t contain my excitement. This trip was a perfect blend of business and vacation, as I eagerly anticipated receiving the keys to my new beachfront property in Paje. The dream of owning a slice of paradise had lingered in my mind for years and finally, it was becoming a reality.

Having explored Zanzibar before, I knew there was something magical about this island. Its pristine beaches, rich history and vibrant culture had captivated me from the start. Learning that Tanzania had opened up investment opportunities for non-citizens only fueled my desire to make Zanzibar my second home. After careful consideration and comparison with other coastal destinations, I found the perfect property within my budget and embarked on the journey to see it in person.

Flying comfortably with Air France and Kenya Airways, I arrived in Zanzibar ready for adventure. Thanks to the seamless customs process and the assistance of Sasha Spice African Tours, my transition into island life was smooth. Sasha, a dear friend and the owner of the tour company, greeted me warmly at the airport, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay.

The first night was spent in Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar. Wandering through its labyrinthine alleyways, I was transported back in time, marveling at the Arabian influence and Swahili architecture. Stone Town is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its cultural significance and architectural beauty. Visitors can explore attractions like the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, the Sultan’s Palace, and the bustling Forodhani Gardens night market.

The following day, Sasha and I explored the city and ventured to the Zanzibar Spice Farms, immersing ourselves in the island’s rich culinary heritage. Zanzibar Spice Farms are a must-visit attraction for travelers looking to explore the island’s rich history of spice cultivation and trade.

During the tour, visitors have the opportunity to smell, taste and learn about a wide range of spices and herbs, including cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, turmeric, vanilla and pepper.

Guides often demonstrate how to extract spices from their plants and discuss their culinary and medicinal properties.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to one of Zanzibar’s newest beachfront resorts for a night of luxury and relaxation. From the exquisite dining experience to the attentive staff, every moment was a testament to Zanzibar’s hospitality and charm.

But the highlight of the trip was finally seeing my beach pad in The Soul gated community. Walking through the property, I was filled with a sense of pride and excitement. The nearby beach, with its pristine white sand and turquoise waters, felt like a dream come true. Indulging in local delicacies at beachfront restaurants and exploring the island’s natural beauty only deepened my love for Zanzibar. Zanzibar’s cuisine is predominantly influenced by Swahili cuisine, which blends elements of African, Arab, Indian, and European culinary traditions.

Though time was limited, I couldn’t resist experiencing some of the island’s famed excursions. From the Safari Blue adventure to watching the sunset at Kendwa Rocks, each moment was filled with wonder and awe.

Kendwa Rocks Beach offers a range of activities and amenities for visitors, including water sports like snorkeling, diving, and kayaking, as well as beach volleyball and sunset cruises. The beach is also a great spot for relaxation, sunbathing, and enjoying the picturesque surroundings.

On the other hand, the Safari Blue Adventure offers a memorable and immersive experience for nature lovers, adventure seekers and those looking to explore the beauty of Zanzibar’s coastline and marine environment. It’s a popular choice for travellers visiting the island and seeking a unique and unforgettable adventure.

As I bid farewell to Zanzibar, I knew this wouldn’t be my last visit. The island’s allure, combined with the warmth of its people, had left an indelible mark on my heart. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation or a place to call home, Zanzibar offers something for everyone. I hope my journey has inspired you to explore this paradise and perhaps even make it your own.
