During my road trip to the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona (check out my previous blog; http://www.fancynancytravels.com/2020/10/31/the-grand-canyon-tour), I had the opportunity of experiencing the wild wild west, just as I saw it on the silver screen as a little kid in Kenya. The Grand Canyon Western Ranch; once owned by a notorious 19th-century gunfighter, is an Old Western-style resort on a secluded cattle ranch is 10 miles from the rim of the Grand Canyon, 2 hours from Las Vegas, and 35 miles from Route 93.

The great ranches of the Old West are time capsules of the American frontier, where one can hear tales of gunfighters and desperadoes, wranglers and cowpokes, and cattle drives of a thousand miles up the dusty trails.

Featuring cowboy-themed decor such as wagon wheels and saddles, the custom-built pine cabins sleeps 2 to 5 guests, and have porches, fireplaces or wood-burning stoves, and en suite bathrooms with showers or antique claw-foot tubs.

The Ranch also offers glamping tents, a fusion of glamour and camping, for those who want to experience camping without the discomfort.  The tents are fully furnished in western style decor.

What’s even more fun was the cowboy campout for those who wish to saddle up a horse, and join the old tradition of the American cowboy on a guided overnight campout. Nightly campfires offer live music. There’s also a rustic restaurant and fully licensed bar. Guided horseback treks, wagon rides, a western gun range, and helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon are extra.
